Why study in Germany

Tuition free education in the public universities of Germany is the number one reason of studying there. Germany offers excellent curricula and infrastructure. More and more degree programs are being offered in English in Germany. It has around 450 state accredited universities that offer 17, 600 degree programs. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a very famous scholarship organization in the offering countless scholarship programs to applicants. German degrees are known for quality and are immensely valued in the job market. The German Visa is valid for 27 Schengen countries including Austria, Denmark, France, Greece and others.

It is the go to study destination for those who aspire to be an automobile engineer. The World’s biggest automobile manufacturers like Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, and Porsche, all started out of Germany. Since October 2014, all state and government universities have stopped charging national and international students tuition fees for undergraduate programs. However, the other expenses such as food, transportation and accommodation have to be incurred by the students. German Universities are internationally recognized for their quality of education and varied number of courses.

Popular Courses

Germany has state-run universities and colleges, private universities and cooperative universities as well as other schools offering a wide range of courses through full-time and part-time participation. To obtain a Bachelor’s degree you must have 12+01 year of education. The duration of your course may be a minimum of 3 years. A one or two year study program equals 120 ECTS points. A student must have a bachelor’s degree to apply for a master’s program. A master’s degree is equivalent to a German ‘Diploma’ or ‘Magister’ degree. You can apply for a Ph.D. after completing your master’s program. German universities majorly focus on research which is another factor that adds to their reputation. The students are provided with money for the research projects enabling them to do their own projects and learn through real-life situations.

Admissions Procedure

In order to study in Germany, foreign students may have to apply to different universities as per the guidelines provided by each university. There are two main intakes in a year, summer and winter; the student has to plan the admission process well in advance to meet the application deadlines of each selected university. Once the applications made, the student will get communication from respected universities till admission confirmation. If the student is working in any company then all the relevant work experience certificates needs to be attached with the applications.

Unlike other country, plans to study in Germany require a well advanced preparation, at least 6 months prior to your intended semester of study. Usually university seeks the following documents:

  • Passport Copy
  • Photos
  • Academic certificates
  • CV / Personal profile
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP)
  • Any of the English language aptitude certificate (IELTS/TOEFL/GRE)
  • Recommendation letters
  • Experience Letters / Reference Letters
  • Interested candidates are encouraged to apply by forwarding their Passport, IELTS/TOFEL score card (if any), All Academic Documents, Resume and course preference.

Required Test

  • German universities accept applications with all the academics and certificates of German and English Language Proficiency. Student needs 6.0 to 6.5 bands in IELTS to prove the English language requirement. German language level A1 and A2 needs to be completed to secure the admission
